Developed by Way Down South Software
Way Down South Software is based in Dunedin, New Zealand - primarily its business is development of diet analysis software. It is a one-person business - run out of a small office in the corner of my garage. My background is a mixture of nutrition and IT, having gained a Bachelors degree in Human Nutrition, and Masters in Community Nutrition, followed by 25 years experience in IT.
Diet Cruncher (version 1) was released in the early 1990s for both Macintosh and Windows, working with the New Zealand FOODfiles database, the USDA food composition database, and the UK McCance and Widdowson database. With the changes to operating systems and support for software, the Macintosh version became end of life. The Windows version, however, continued to work. This latest version of Diet Cruncher (version 2) is a complete re-write of the software, and is deployed from one code base onto both Macintosh and Windows ( and Linux - if interested in the Linux version, send me a message).
The name "Way Down South Software" has its origins in a song by the Hamilton County Bluegrass Band... 'Way Down South'.
